Understand the difference between から and ので for giving reasons.
The rule
から and ので both introduce a reason. から often presents a more direct or personal justification. ので usually sounds more explanatory and softer. After a noun or adjective in な, use なので (not だので).
Examples
雨が降っているので、家にいます。
As it rains, I stay home.
時間がないから、急ぎましょう。
We don't have time, so let's hurry.
静かなので、ここで勉強します。
As it's quiet, I'm studying here.
Remember
- から often presents a reason more directly or subjectively.
- ので often marks a softer or more circumstantial explanation.
- With a noun or adjective in な, we meet なので / だから.
In everyday life
雨が降っているので、家にいます。
As it rains, I stay home.
疲れたから、もう寝る。
I'm tired, so I'm going to bed.
Common mistake
Avoid 学生ですので in a construction where 学生なので is more naturally suitable; registers and constructions must remain consistent.
